Scheduled for a grand global unveiling on August 15 in South Africa, the teaser not only confirms previous speculations but also hints at Mahindra&#8217;s ambitious strides into the electric vehicle (EV) segment.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s what we know so far:</p>
<p>The global debut of the Thar.e concept is set to take place in South Africa, a significant move for the brand to introduce its innovation on a global platform.<br>The design language promises a fusion of modern and retro aesthetics. Squircle-shaped LED lights with pixel structures will make an appearance, a style trait it seems to share with Mahindra&#8217;s new pickup concept, which is also set to make its first appearance.</p><p><br>The words &#8216;Born Electric&#8217; prominently featured in the teaser is more than just a tagline. It&#8217;s a revelation.&nbsp;</p><p>This indicates Mahindra&#8217;s commitment to a new dedicated EV platform they are currently working on.</p><p><br>Drawing parallels from the industry, while electrifying a ladder-frame platform – such as the one in the popular Ford F150 Lightning pickup – isn&#8217;t unheard of, Mahindra&#8217;s decision to employ its newly developed electric platform for the Thar.e is commendable.&nbsp;</p><p>It signifies the brand&#8217;s forward-thinking approach to EV tech, sidestepping the inherent challenges posed by the current Thar&#8217;s ladder-frame, such as weight and space constraints. This strategic decision will likely translate to an optimized Thar.e, boasting a lighter frame, maximized battery storage, and potentially an impressive range.</p>
<p>With Mahindra&#8217;s storied history in commercial vehicle manufacturing, this move into electric off-roaders suggests an expansion of their electric horizon. Yet, as the world eagerly anticipates the big reveal, specifics regarding the Thar.e&#8217;s range and powertrain remain shrouded in mystery.</p>
<p>The countdown to August 15 has begun, as Mahindra is poised to accelerate into the future of electric mobility. Stay with us as we bring you the latest updates from this electric revelation.</p> </div>

							<p>Passenger vehicle wholesales in India reached a record high in July 2023, with an estimated 3,52,492 units sold. The surge in demand for Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) and Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPVs) played a significant role in achieving this milestone, although the demand for small cars remained tepid and affected overall growth. The overall sales figure is up 3.1 percent compared to the same month last year, making July 2023 the best-performing month for the passenger vehicle industry this calendar year, and likely the best July in history.</p><p>The statistics revealed that utility vehicles, including SUVs and MPVs, continue to dominate the market, constituting every second car sold in the country. This segment&#8217;s growth outpaced that of hatchbacks and sedans, establishing it as the highest seller for nearly all manufacturers. Cumulative sales for the first seven months of 2023 totaled approximately 23,62,500 units, representing a remarkable 9 percent year-on-year growth.</p><h2>Passenger Vehicles Sales in July 2023</h2><table><tbody><tr><th>Manufacturer</th><th>July &#8217;23</th><th>July &#8217;22</th><th>YoY growth</th><th>June &#8217;23</th><th>MoM growth</th></tr><tr><td>Maruti Suzuki</td><td>1,52,126</td><td>1,42,850</td><td>6%</td><td>1,33,027</td><td>14.35%</td></tr><tr><td>Hyundai Motors</td><td>50,701</td><td>50,500</td><td>0</td><td>50,001</td><td>1.39%</td></tr><tr><td>Tata Motors</td><td>47,689</td><td>47,636</td><td>0</td><td>47,359</td><td>0.69%</td></tr><tr><td>Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</td><td>36,205</td><td>28,053</td><td>29%</td><td>32,588</td><td>11%</td></tr><tr><td>Toyota Kirloskar Motors</td><td>20,759</td><td>19,693</td><td>5%</td><td>18,237</td><td>14%</td></tr><tr><td>MG Motor India</td><td>5,012</td><td>4,013</td><td>25%</td><td>5,125</td><td>-2.2%</td></tr><tr><td>Honda Cars India</td><td>4,864</td><td>6,784</td><td>-28%</td><td>5,080</td><td>-4.4%</td></tr><tr><td>Total of 7 OEMs</td><td>3,17,356</td><td>2,99,529</td><td>6%</td><td>2,91,417</td><td>8.9%</td></tr></tbody></table><p>Leading the charts in July 2023 was Maruti Suzuki, with total wholesales of 1,52,126 units, marking a 6 percent year-on-year increase. The company&#8217;s expanding portfolio of utility vehicles, which includes compact and midsized SUVs, along with three MPVs, contributed significantly to this growth.</p><h2>Maruti Suzuki</h2><p>Maruti Suzuki&#8217;s UV portfolio, featuring models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny, S-Cross, and XL6, witnessed an impressive 167 percent year-on-year growth, selling 62,049 units in July 2023. The Nexa lineup, which includes 52,500 units sold, also played a crucial role in boosting the company&#8217;s overall performance. As a result, Maruti Suzuki&#8217;s market share rose to 43.3 percent in July 2023, compared to 41.8 percent in the same month last year.</p><p>However, the sales of the company&#8217;s other sub-segments, namely the budget hatchbacks (Alto and S Presso), compact cars (Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, Tour S, Wagon R), premium sedan (Ciaz), and the Eeco van, declined in comparison to the previous year.</p><h2>Hyundai Motors</h2><p>Hyundai Motors recorded a total of 50,701 units sold in July 2023, with a marginal year-on-year growth of 0.39 percent. The Hyundai Creta remained the best-selling model for the automaker, and it recently crossed the milestone of 9,00,000 units sold since its launch eight years ago. To protect its market position, Hyundai is banking on the recently launched Exter, and it aims to achieve overall domestic market sales of around 6,00,000 units for the entire year.</p><h2>Tata Motors </h2><p>Tata Motors reported wholesales of 47,689 units in July 2023, maintaining flat growth compared to the same month last year. However, the company witnessed a marginal month-on-month growth of 0.11 percent. Despite facing new competition in the electric vehicle segment, Tata Motors&#8217; EV sales grew by an impressive 53 percent year-on-year. Tata Motors has outlined plans to launch around half-a-dozen new models, including facelifts and new powertrain options, starting this festive season.</p><h2>Mahindra &amp; Mahindra</h2><p>Mahindra &amp; Mahindra achieved its highest-ever monthly SUV sales in July 2023, with total wholesales of 36,205 units. This marks a strong 29 percent year-on-year growth and an 11 percent month-on-month increase. The company&#8217;s robust market performance is due to its 31 percent growth in the first seven months of 2023, as well as the first four months of FY2024. Mahindra has expanded its SUV manufacturing capacity to cater to the surging demand for UVs.</p><h2>Toyota</h2><p>Toyota Kirloskar Motors reported wholesales of 20,759 units in July 2023, representing a 5 percent year-on-year growth. The company experienced a substantial 14 percent month-on-month increase in sales, driven by the rising demand for its cars, SUVs, and MPVs. MG Motor India achieved a year-on-year growth of 25 percent in July 2023, with retail sales of 5,012 units. However, the company&#8217;s sales witnessed a 2.2 percent month-on-month decline due to the impact of severe weather and floods in some parts of the country.</p> </div>

							<p>The introduction of the 5-door Mahindra Thar has sparked interest and speculation regarding its effect on the existing 3-door variant. Here&#8217;s an in-depth analysis of the potential impact.</p>
<h2>A Game Changer: 5-Door Thar with Scorpio-like Suspension</h2>
<p>If the 5-door Thar receives a suspension similar to the Mahindra Scorpio N, it could be a significant game changer in the market. The addition of two extra doors and this advanced suspension would likely provide enhanced comfort, stability, and off-road capabilities, appealing to a broader consumer base.</p>
<h2>Price Difference: The Key to Market Dynamics</h2>
<ul>
<li><strong>1.5 to 2 Lakh Difference:</strong> If the price difference between the 3-door and 5-door variants is within this range, the 5-door model could heavily eat into the sales of the 3-door version, making it a preferred choice for many.</li>
<li><strong>5 Lakh Difference:</strong> A more substantial price gap of around 5 lakh would likely have a lower effect on the 3-door Thar&#8217;s sales, as the cost may become a deciding factor for budget-conscious buyers.</li>
</ul>
<h2>Practicality for Family Use</h2>
<p>The 5-door Thar is expected to be more practical for family use, offering easier access and greater convenience for passengers. Coupled with the new suspension, this variant would likely attract families seeking a rugged yet comfortable vehicle for daily use and adventure outings.</p>
<h2>Comparing with Jeep Wrangler: A Case Study</h2>
<p>The introduction of the 5-door Jeep Wrangler significantly impacted the dynamics between the 3-door and 5-door versions. The 5-door Wrangler offered more practicality and space, appealing to families and those requiring extra convenience.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Increased Sales:</strong> The 5-door Wrangler saw a surge in sales as it catered to a wider audience looking for both style and functionality.</li>
<li><strong>3-Door Sales Dynamics:</strong> While the 3-door version continued to appeal to enthusiasts and off-road purists, the 5-door variant attracted more mainstream consumers, slightly affecting the 3-door model&#8217;s sales.</li>
</ul>
<p>The experience of Jeep Wrangler can provide valuable insights into what might happen with the Mahindra Thar&#8217;s 3-door and 5-door dynamics.</p>
<h2>Conclusion</h2>
<p>The introduction of the 5-door Mahindra Thar could reshape the market dynamics depending on its features, pricing, and practicality. While it may pose a significant threat to the 3-door variant at a lower price difference, the impact may be less substantial with a wider price gap. Drawing parallels with the Jeep Wrangler&#8217;s experience, the success of the 5-door model will hinge on its ability to balance innovation, cost, and consumer needs.</p> </div>

				<div class="elementor-widget-container">
							<p>In an exciting development, a leaked design patent has provided a sneak peek into the upcoming production version of the Mahindra XUV.e8, an electric derivative of the popular XUV700 SUV. The patent image suggests that the production-spec XUV.e8 will closely resemble its concept form, the XUV.e8, which was showcased in August last year. Mahindra&#8217;s foray into the electric vehicle segment is eagerly anticipated, and this leaked design gives us a closer look at what to expect.</p>
<p>One of the key observations from the leaked patent image is the striking similarity between the production-spec XUV.e8 and the concept version, as well as the existing XUV700. The body panels are expected to remain almost identical, with only the intricate paint job missing from the concept. However, the XUV.e8 will feature an all-new front fascia with a full-width LED light bar that extends vertically into the bumper. The sealed-off grille, a common feature in electric vehicles, will accommodate new triangular headlamps positioned in the bumper itself.</p>
<p></p><p>The profile of the XUV.e8 remains reminiscent of the XUV700, featuring flush door handles, similar character lines, and an identical glasshouse. Notably, the XUV.e8 will sport new aero-optimized wheels, enhancing its aerodynamic efficiency. While the rear design is not visible in the leaked image, it is expected to carry over the design cues from the regular XUV700, as seen in the XUV.e8 concept.</p>
<p>Another eye-catching feature of the XUV.e8 is the prominent copper highlight that accents the glasshouse, headlamp surrounds, bumper inserts, and the iconic twin-peak Mahindra logo. This copper highlight is set to become a signature element of Mahindra&#8217;s upcoming electric vehicle lineup, following the footsteps of the already available XUV400.</p>
<p>The leaked design patent also hints that other forthcoming EVs from Mahindra, such as the XUV.e9 and the BE range, will likely maintain a close resemblance to their respective concept versions. This consistency in design language across their electric vehicle lineup showcases Mahindra&#8217;s commitment to creating a cohesive and recognizable EV portfolio.</p>
<p>Apart from the design insights, some technical specifications of the XUV.e8 have also been revealed. The electric SUV will be built on Mahindra&#8217;s born-electric INGLO skateboard platform, differentiating it from the XUV700. The XUV.e8 will have a length of 4,740mm, width of 1,900mm, and height of 1,760mm, with a wheelbase measuring 2,762mm. Comparatively, it will be slightly longer, wider, and taller than the XUV700, with a slightly extended wheelbase.</p>
<p>Mahindra has confirmed that the XUV.e8 will be equipped with an all-wheel-drive system and will boast a battery pack with a capacity of around 80kWh. Power outputs are expected to range between 230hp and over 350hp, offering a thrilling driving experience. The XUV.e8 is slated to be the first electric vehicle from Mahindra to enter production, with an anticipated launch scheduled for December 2024.</p>
<p>Automotive enthusiasts and eco-conscious consumers alike eagerly await the arrival of the Mahindra XUV.e8. With its distinctive design, promising specifications, and Mahindra&#8217;s expertise in the SUV segment, the XUV.e8 has the potential to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market and contribute to a greener future.</p> </div>
