Mercedes-Benz has taken the wraps off its latest AMG GLC, boasting a refreshed design, improved driving dynamics, and an electrified range-topper with an impressive 680hp. The AMG GLC is now offered in 43 and 63 S e-Performance variants, catering to performance enthusiasts seeking powerful and eco-conscious options.

Under the hood, the entry-level Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4Matic is powered by a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine delivering 421hp at 6,750rpm, with an additional 14hp provided by a belt-driven starter/generator. The SUV generates 499Nm of torque at 5,000rpm, enabling it to sprint from 0-100kph in just 4.8 seconds.

The flagship of the range is the new AMG GLC 63 S e-Performance, utilizing the same 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine, combined with a 204hp electric motor and a 6.1kWh battery. This setup results in an astounding 680hp and 1020Nm of torque for a midsize SUV. The range-topping model accelerates from 0-100kph in a mere 3.5 seconds and boasts a top speed limited to 274kph.

Mercedes attributes the significant efficiency gains to the electrification of the powertrain. The car features an on-board charger capable of supplying power at speeds of up to 3.8kW, enabling electric-only driving for up to 12km.

To enhance driving dynamics, the AMG GLC is equipped with various technologies. All models come with four-wheel drive and AMG Dynamics, improving electronic stability and steering response to enhance cornering abilities. Additionally, AMG Ride Control is standard to provide enhanced comfort on uneven road surfaces. Other performance features include a sports braking system, active rear steering, and an AMG exhaust system.

On the exterior, the new GLC showcases an AMG-specific radiator grille with vertical struts, an AMG front apron with flics, sporty air intakes, and chrome-plated trim elements. The rear features a prominent diffuser and quad exhaust tips finished in gloss black, along with a roof-integrated spoiler. The top-end AMG 63 S e-Performance model is equipped with AMG forged 21-inch wheels with a matte black finish and yellow-painted brake calipers.

The AMG GLC’s interior retains the classic yellow and black theme, featuring black Nappa leather upholstery, a steering wheel with yellow stitching, and yellow seatbelts. Optional AMG Performance seats are also available.

While there is no official confirmation of the AMG GLC’s arrival in India, Mercedes is set to launch the regular new-gen GLC SUV in the country on August 9. Bookings for the standard GLC have already begun, and deliveries are expected to commence by late August.
